China - Dec 2002

In December 2002 I flew with my family to Shanghai. I was a high school student, and my parents had just opened a factory in Pudong a few years before to manufacture jewelry for their brand, Sorrelli. They were experiencing issues with the team, and rather than choose between a family holiday and a work crisis, we combined our holiday time as a family with their work. We relocated for Christmas to Shanghai, complete with a bonsai Christmas tree. This journal entry chronicles that trip, and my fascination wtih all things Mandarin (including Wrigley's Juicyfruit packaging, Trix cereal, and roasted chestnut bags), as well as photos fo my siblings and I as we explored on tourist attractions while our parents worked.
